Delhi Government organises ‘Dangal’ screening for Students, to create Awareness for Education of Girl child

New Delhi, Jan 20, 2017 : In a bid to create awareness among students for education of the girl child, the Delhi government on Friday organised a special screening of Aamir Khan-starrer "Dangal" at various government schools.

"District Magistrate of south-west Delhi Abhishek Dev has organised for screening of 'Dangal' for over 4,500 school students of government schools in Najafgarh sub-division to promote awareness and sensitise students towards 'Beti Padhao Beti Bachao' campaign," a government official said.

A total of nine batches of 500 students each will watch the movie from January 20 to 24.

The first such screening was organised at Rajkiya Kanya Vidyalaya No-1, Najafgarh where a batch of 500 students watched the movie on Friday.

"The programme shall see a culmination through a gathering in Najafgarh Stadium on January 24 to observe National Girl Child Day, wherein, the issue of gender equality will be disseminated among around 4,000 students," the official said.

Later a statement issued by the government said the aim of the initiative is to make people realise the value of girls in enriching their families and community.

"People will be made aware towards ensuring equal opportunities of good health and education for their daughters as their sons," the statement added. (IANS)
