Danish artist Jens Galschiøt unveiled a provocative golden statue of Donald Trump at the European Parliament, symbolizing criticism of his policies. Named 'The Orange Plague,' the artwork has ignited discussions worldwide, blending satire with political commentary.
AN 8.5-FOOT TALL GOLDEN STATUE of US President Donald Trump has everyone talking on the internet. The naked Trump statue, with a golden outer body, was displayed inside the European Parliament building in Strasbourg, France, on October 7, 2026. The sculpture was created by Danish artist Jens Galschiøt, who has been at the center of attention ever since the statue was seen by the public.
Photographs of the golden naked Trump statue have gone viral on the internet, with some praising Galschiøt’s artistry while others criticize it. The sculpture depicts the President of the United States (POTUS) holding a golf club and a ball in one hand and the scales of justice in his other hand. The ball is reportedly made to resemble the world. The statue is named ‘The Orange Plague’, with Trump sitting on top of another man’s shoulder — who is wearing clothes, in contrast to the POTUS.
As per a report by The Independent, the statue is placed at one of the busiest spots between two European Parliament buildings and will remain on display until Thursday, October 8, 2026.
Jens Galschiøt’s latest piece of work has found itself under the spotlight. He is a 72-year-old well-known artist from Frederikssund, Denmark, who incorporates current world issues into his art. One of his most prominent works is The Pillar of Shame, a series of sculptures created in honour of the people who lost their lives during the 1989 Tiananmen Square Massacre in Beijing, China. The sculptures have been displayed in Italy, Hong Kong, Mexico, and Brazil.
Galschiøt’s other work includes My Inner Beast which focuses on the rising violence and racism in Europe among others.
The Danish artist’s latest sculpture of Trump is also referred to as the ‘King of Justice.’ The sculpture also includes text on its plinth that reads, “I am sitting on the back of a man. He is sinking under my burden. I will do anything to help him. Except stepping down from his back.”
Galschiøt told CNN, explaining the intent behind the statue, that it was made to suit the tastes of the US president, who also likes gold. The statue is covered with a 23-carat gold leaf.
“Trump is destroying all the things that I believe in,” Galschiøt told CNN. He further explained that the POTUS is harming two things that the artist personally believes in: the environment and the rules-based world order.
He further took a jibe at the POTUS, saying that the sculpture was inspired by a fairy tale by author Hans Christian Andersen titled The Emperor’s New Clothes. The story, originally published in 1837, follows a vain emperor who thinks he is wearing lavish clothes and parades around naked.
Left-wing Danish European Parliament member Per Clausen invited Galschiøt and sponsored the event. Clausen said, as quoted by Euronews, “If someone is so thin-skinned that they cannot tolerate this sculpture being exhibited in the European Parliament, then they have no place on the world stage.”
Trump’s naked statue titled ‘The Orange Plague’ has received mixed responses since its display in France. Some praised the work, while others slammed Galschiøt for mocking a world leader. “If this was created depicting an EU member or leader, the artist would probably be arrested,” one user on X complained. As per reports, visitors to the display have been handed miniature versions of the statue as a symbol of protest. The Danish artist took to X on October 7, 2026, where he announced that he would be giving out 10,000 versions of the naked Trump statue.
